The only effect of delay length beyond the 3-hour threshold is on the longest distance band, where a delay of 3 to 4 hours entitles you to 50% of the full amount. In some cases where the airline provided an alternative flight that arrived within a defined window of your original arrival time, the amount may be reduced by 50%.
